Quick Plastering Checklist

This streamlined checklist highlights the essential steps for successful plastering, perfect for on-site execution and quick verification.

Phase 1: Pre-Plastering Preparations

     ✅       Surface cleaned of dust, grease, loose material.
     ✅       Concrete surfaces hacked (Using Grinder Machine ) & mortar joints raked (10-15mm).
     ✅      Surface thoroughly wetted (hours before plastering).
     ✅     GI Mesh (150mm) fixed at RCC-masonry junctions.
     ✅     Plastering drawings finalized & approved.
     ✅     Scaffolding inspected, stable & safe.
     ✅     Underlying masonry cured (min. 7 days).
     ✅     Cement freshness (within 90 days) & sand quality (silt < 6%) checked.
     ✅     Reference lines (dori/dots) accurately marked.
     ✅     Minor holes/gaps in masonry filled.
     ✅     Adjacent property & sensitive areas covered.
     ✅    Worker PPE (hard hats, glasses, gloves, masks) ensured.

Phase 2: During Plastering

     ✅    Mortar mixed in correct cement-sand proportion & consistent.
     ✅    Batch size controlled (used within working time).
     ✅    Plaster applied in uniform layers, meeting thickness (e.g., 12-20mm).
     ✅    Plumbness and level checked with plumb bob/spirit level.
     ✅    Undulations checked with long straight edge & addressed.
     ✅    Corner beads used for external corners.
     ✅    Multiple coats applied (if needed) with roughening.
     ✅    Surface initially floated for uniform texture.
     ✅    Final finishing done with steel trowel (smooth).
     ✅    Protection from direct sun/wind/extreme temps ensured.
     ✅    Tools cleaned frequently & excess plaster disposed immediately.
     ✅    Dust screens/mesh fences used for control.

Phase 3: Post-Plastering and Curing

     ✅    Curing commenced (at least 24 hrs after application).
     ✅    Plaster kept continuously moist (min. 7 days, preferably 10-14 days).
     ✅    Newly plastered surfaces protected from damage/rain.
     ✅    Room ventilated gently (avoiding excessive draughts).
     ✅    Visual inspection for imperfections completed.
     ✅    Electrical boxes checked for level & flushness.
     ✅   Plastering patterns/grooves/bands checked.
     ✅   Undulation check performed with halogen lamp.
     ✅   Minor imperfections (sanding/touch-ups) addressed.
     ✅   Protective coverings removed carefully.
     ✅   Area thoroughly cleaned of residue/dust.
     ✅   Sufficient drying time allowed before painting (plaster uniform light pinkish-white).
